The Top 5 Floral Wedding Trends for 2017

1. Greenery

Pantone’s Color Institute, a company that prides in being the authority on color, annually announces a new color of the year, which is reflective of the cultural environment, mood, and the current trends“Greenery” is the official color of the year for 2017. “Greenery” is a yellow-green shade that makes you think of lime zest and brings to mind words like nature, rejuvenate, organic, refresh, and revitalize. Leatrice Eiseman, Pantone’s executive director, describes this color as the color of hopefulness and of our connection to nature… Every spring we enter a new cycle and new shoots come from the ground. It is something life-affirming to look forward to.” Reconnecting with nature is a great way to describe it. There are so many stunning ways to use “Greenery” in your 2017 wedding. How about all-greenery bouquets for the bride and bridesmaids? Bringing in the green into your wedding color scheme is very easy and fun. There are so many color palettes that work well with Greenery.  It comes in so many beautiful shapes, textures, and shades, leaving so much room for creativity. Incorporating “Greenery and foliage to bouquets, wreaths, garlands, floral crowns, centerpieces, boutonnieres, and corsages is a perfect way to tie in this new color of the year into your wedding.

 2. Texture

Adding texture to your wedding flowers gives your wedding a “wow” factor. This trend has grown a lot in the past years and is predicted to continue growing in 2017. Adding unique elements like succulents, thistle, berries, seeded eucalyptus, lotus pods, silver brunia balls and fern curls and other unique elements will add depth and dimension and will make simple floral arrangements absolutely stunning!

3. Soft Petal Blooms

Soft petal blooms like peonies, dahlias, ranunculus and garden roses are definitely the most popular and most admired wedding flowers. They are sophisticated, romantic, delicate and undeniably beautiful. Pinterest and Instagram are filled with beautiful images of these sensational flowers and brides just have to have them. If a bride wishes to have soft petal blooms it is highly recommended to have the wedding during the blooming season. It is possible to get soft petal flowers out of season, but at a much higher out-of-season price. Peonies are seasonally available in late spring and early summer. Dahlias are seasonally available in late summer and fall. Café au Lait Dahlia is the most popular and most desired type of a dahlia and is considered to be the queen of dahlias. Ranunculus flowers are seasonally available in spring and early summer. Garden roses are available year-round. The David Austin Patience and Juliet Garden Roses are phenomenal roses to use for weddings.

4. Fine Art Bouquet

In 2017, trendy brides will be selecting fine art bouquets, which are organic, loose and less formal bouquet designs. There is a slight movement away from a perfectly round style of floral bouquets to a wider, out of form bouquets that usually include some form of eucalyptus. The fine art bouquet can be symmetrical or asymmetrical and have trailing stems and organic movement. It is usually tied with a long trailing silk ribbon.

5. Pops of Color

Neutral tones and soft color palettes
will stay in 2017, but with added pops of color like deep pinks, purples, cranberry, navy and lime green.
