Portland – One of America’s Up-and-Coming Cities
HouseBeautiful has released their list of up-and-coming cities for 2016, and among them – Portland. What puts Portland on the radar? Actually, the number one thing is real estate. It’s a great place to invest since values haven’t reached the point of technology-based cities to the south yet. Some major companies have opened offices in Portland creating lots of jobs for professionals.
Who else made the list? Here are a few cities:
Nashville – It’s not a cheap city to live in, but the job market is doing well thanks to the automotive and insurance industries. Plus, they have a world-renowned music scene.
Queens – Being a more affordable option than Manhattan and Brooklyn has resulted in growth. Plus, fine dining is paving the way for refined residents.
Jersey City – Residential towers provide an NYC feel (not to mention an NYC view), but neighborhoods still abound. It’s the best of both worlds.
Silicon Beach – Maybe 2016 will be the year we find out why Google bought up so much of the city’s vacant land.
Durham – North Carolina may not be the first place you think of when it comes to tech R&D, but Durham is trying to change all that, and it seems to be going well so far.
Cambridge – How does a city make the “up-and-coming” list when they already have MIT and Harvard in town? Thrown in some new biotech companies and now graduates can stay after graduation.
That’s just a few of the 13 cities that HouseBeautiful suggested keeping an eye on in 2016. If you pick Portland, you definitely won’t regret it. From lifestyle to the economy, Portland is one of the most popular cities in the US and for good reason.
