2017 NW Natural Street of Dreams® – Be Inspired!
The 2017 NW Natural Street of Dreams® luxury home event produced by the Home Builders Association (HBA) of Metropolitan Portland will take place in Mitchell Park in Happy Valley. The event offers a unique opportunity to be inspired by touring five homes situated among a matured, natural landscape nestled in the heart of Happy Valley. The show runs daily from July 29 to August 27, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
“We are excited to be back in the rolling hills of Happy Valley that combines a vibrant business community and a great quality of life,” Vice President, Membership, Marketing & Events, HBA of Metropolitan Portland Rachel Trice said. “At this year’s Street of Dreams, visitors from near and far can tour dream houses and find inspiration for their own home.”
Many opportunities to be inspired
The NW Natural Street of Dreams is a popular event for visitors looking to update their own home—whether planning a new kitchen, bathroom, or a whole house. There are countless opportunities to be inspired by an overall look, a specific product or simply by the experience. The HBA connects consumers with remodelers, suppliers, and all types of housing service providers in the Portland metro area.
The homes featured in the 2017 NW Natural Street of Dreams are:
- Oregon Dream 2017 by Stone Bridge Homes NW
- The Barclay by BC Custom Construction
- Neveah by TA Liesy
- The Elysian by Red Hills Construction
- SUTEKI by Suteki America
International influence and down home style
World‐renowned Japanese architect Kengo Kuma designed the Suteki home in this year’s show. Kengo, who designed the new Tokyo’s 2020 Olympic Stadium, also designed the recent expansion at the Portland Japanese Gardens. The home incorporates Japanese elements while taking into account the natural surroundings and climate of the Pacific NW. The design maximizes the connection to the outdoors.
The Barclay also takes a cue from the outdoors, featuring an open air central atrium. The one‐level plan designed by Portland architect Mike Barclay contemporizes the best of mid‐century homes through the addition of a great room and on‐trend indoor/outdoor living space.
From the influence of Prairie School to the American West, two homes at this year’s show embrace the farmhouse for inspiration. Blending industrial and rural elements together, Architect Troy Fowler creates a sense of light and volume in the Oregon Dream 2017. The Elysian, also by Barclay, is a one‐level contemporary home, warmed with farmhouse elements.
And, what’s more American than family? T.A. Liesy’s home Neveah is designed around family, comfort and a casual lifestyle. From the extra‐large pantry and second refrigerator to feed the owner’s four boys to the theater and family room to accommodate lots of friends, Neveah’s casual and welcoming modern farmhouse aesthetic is truly a family affair.
Natural gas amenities abound
The NW Natural Street of Dreams tour offers inspiring design and product ideas, especially when it comes to natural gas appliances. Among other things, the homes at this year’s show will feature beautiful, convenient and warm natural gas fireplaces that are typically available at local dealers so inspired guests can bring a part of the Street of Dreams’ elegance into their homes.
“Natural gas is an affordable and highly efficient way to bring energy into your home,” NW Natural Marketing Manager John Frankel said. “Whether you’re using natural gas equipment in the kitchen, living room or patio, you’ll be glad to know that NW Natural customers are paying less for gas today than they were 15 years ago.”
Making a difference in the community
The proceeds for the NW Natural Street of Dreams helps the HBA with the important mission to keep housing affordable for everyone in the market. In addition to working with local jurisdictions on housing affordability and other important issues, the Home Builders Association of Metropolitan Portland works to advance issues and candidates who are pro‐business and pro‐housing.
Visitors to the Street of Dreams will have the option to pay an additional $1 per ticket, for which the proceeds go directly to the Home Builders Foundation. The Foundation is the charitable arm of the HBA of Metropolitan Portland that builds and remodels shelters for families in our community.
