The holiday season is upon us once again, and while you’re out selecting those perfect presents for all your loved ones, it’s also time to think about how you intend to wrap the package in a pleasing way. Sometimes, an ordinary gift can be revealed as something really heartfelt, simply by taking the time to make it look beautiful. So here are a few tips to help you create a rustic feel for your gifts this year without breaking the piggy bank on wrapping fees at the store:

There’s nothing quite like using natural elements in your gift wrapping. Plain brown paper and string may seem ultra-simple, but you can quickly spruce it up with a clipping from something in your yard. If that string is holding down a cutting of rosemary, thyme, pine, or something else from your garden or yard, it adds a personal touch and creates packaging that both looks and smells wonderful!

Other fun ideas to try are splatter plain brown paper with some white paint to get the effect of snow, add ornaments, old photos, lace doilies, or anything else your imagination can come up with. It’s really like having a blank canvas for your artistic expression.

Now,
if you want to stay away from the brown paper idea, you can go for the many rustic styles of wrapping paper, ranging from designs that look like old book pages to those that have a weathered wood appearance. Or, you can substitute the string for a unique bow involving burlap or ribbon. Since rustic themes are trending, there should be many options available at your local arts and crafts store.
