A Cellar Worthy of Your Wine
by Vieng Oudom | Founder of Sommi Wine Cellars
With Oregon’s lush valleys of vineyards and world-renowned Pinot Noir scene, a startup like Sommi Wine Cellars was a natural pairing. We started Sommi because we wanted to provide unique, high-end products for wine connoisseurs that just weren’t available anywhere else.
A home wine collection is something that you’ll treasure for years to come, and we believe the same should be true of the cellar that houses it. We design, engineer and craft each wine cellar to order with beautiful local and salvaged wood sourced directly from Northwest suppliers and high-performance cooling systems. Each cellar is built by experienced woodworkers and craftspeople to deliver the best possible combination of function and beauty with our clients’ needs in mind.
Designing and building custom wine cellars for our clients based on their unique homes, wine collections and individual style is an exciting part of our business. All Sommi Wine Cellars can be customized to house any wine collection size with wood and material finishes to your taste. Our cellar models are free–standing and designed to move with you and your collection — no matter where you’re both headed.
As avid wine enthusiasts ourselves, we believe the best wine collection is a well cared for and considered one. Here are some important things to consider when it comes to storing and aging your wines:
• How many bottles do you currently have on hand, and how large do you anticipate your collection growing in the next several years? We design models to house collections from 50 to 500 or more bottles.
• What’s your personal style and what’s the style of your home? Rustic? Modern? Minimal? Choosing the shape, wood and metal finishes of your cellar are key design decisions that speak to your style and personality.
• Are you looking for a statement piece for a new home, or a storage solution that will complement your current home? Whether you’re dreaming of, building or currently living in your dream home we recommend designing to suit both your present and future home.
• How are you protecting your wines? You’ve invested time, money and anticipation in your collection — make sure you’re protecting it from temperature and humidity shifts.
Opening a bottle of wine is always a special occasion — whether it’s a glass of your favorite Cabernet or something rare you’ve been saving to share with a special someone — no two bottles are alike. That’s why we believe your wine cellar should be as considered as your collection.
