Let’s be Thankful!
Adding Elements of Oregon’s Fall Bounty to Your Home Decor
Autumn is the best time of year to bring the warm elements of Oregon’s bounty to your homes decor. Here are a few simple decorating ideas to make your home cozy and welcoming during your fall gatherings.
Nature is such a source of beauty and inspiration. All we need to do to bring the serenity of nature into our living space is to collect natural art supplies from our own backyard or from a walk in the woods. This is a gracious way to express our appreciation and thankfulness to the wonders of Oregon’s nature. Gather a collection of pumkins, fall foliage, and wooden branches, arrange in a rustic wooden bowl or wicker tray and place in the center of your table for a gorgeous centerpiece!
Let Nature Inspire Your Kitchen
Place a set of mini glass pumpkins around a kitchen island, on the counter, or simply scatter throughout the kitchen to add a bit of glam. Create an easy inexpensive autumn display by nestling your favorite small pumpkins in a corner, and let the collection speak for itself.
You can easily transform mini pumpkins into luminarias by cutting a 1 inch wide circle into each pumpkin, scooping out the centers with a tablespoon, and inserting votive candles.
Be Creative with Recycling
Nothing is as inspiring as the fiery colors of fall. Try adding texture to an oversized jug or an antique milk can with branches of leaves cut from the yard for a rustic yet defined statement.
You can make a stunning arrangement without breaking the bank by using the full range of textures and autumn hues from branches, dried grasses, moss, squash, and small pumpkins. Place them in a vase as you would a traditional flower display— is sure to brighten your table all season long.
Don’t Neglect Your Outdoor Space
It’s October! Such a lovely time of the year to add a touch of fall-inspired flair to your outdoor space. Start with cascading pops of fall color down the front porch stairs with handmade fall garland gathered from nearby leaves.
Your outside space allows you to use bigger pumpkins that have more impact. Position larger pumkins on their sides or stack them on an iron urn to make a vertical statement. Create a warm welcome with a look straight out of a pumpkin patch by adding hay bales, pumpkins, and vibrant garden mums to your entry.
Natural & Earthy
Bring in other items from around your home that you wouldn’t normally think to pair with pumpkins, such as pillows, cozy fall blankets, old books and baskets. Just be sure and keep the look simple by sticking to the same basic color tones.
With a little creativity, it’s easy to create a relaxed, earthy mood for gatherings with friends.
Artsy & Crafty
With Halloween just around the corner, it’s time to extend your creativity and sharpen all your artistic senses. Add some personality to your home with ModPodge to découpage a white pumpkin with pressed leaves. You can easily incorporate this fun technique of painting and decoupaging. It looks really natural and earthy, and the best thing about it— you can harvest the foliage from your own backyard. Your kids can help create lots of versions from this idea and your house will be a big hit with your neighborhood trick-or-treaters!
We hope you enjoyed these Cheers to spending more time celebrating fall! We can’t wait to see what you create!
